Rome, the eternal ruin, in 543 the Gothic War rages, as the
Emperor Justinian seeks to reconquer Italy from the
Ostrogoths, he has sent his Paladin, Magister Militarum
Belisarius, who after conquest of the Vandals at Carthage
in 533, has made quick work, marching to Ravenna by
540. Nevertheless the victory was short lived, as he was
recalled to Constantinople by the Emperor, and in the
interim, a new leader, Totila has arisen, and attacking
south, defeated the Byzantine Generals, bypassing Rome,
and besieging Neapolis.
